Why .mobi is a bad idea

A quick pointer to a non-copyright related article I posted over at Web-Graphics last week: in “.mobi versus device independence”, I explain why the recent approval of the .mobi sTLD by ICANN is a bad idea from a web development point of view. The paradoxical notion of a (mobile) web within the web interests me, as I am working on a paper on mobile web development in Japan for the International Conference on Technology, Knowledge & Society (University of California, Berkeley – 18–20 February 2005).
