CCJP 2nd seminar: link roundup
Two weeks ago, I went to the 2nd CCJP seminar, which was absolutely worthwhile. Some news and links I picked up (sorry for the delay):
- There’s a new iCommons site that I hadn’t seen yet. Quite nice.
- Eyespot allows you to create and mix videos online, hosting included. Eyespot says it’s a “Creative Commons site,” but I’m not completely sure what that means — I can’t find any CC info in the FAQ or elsewhere on the site.
- Revver is another video sharing site, but one that smartly combines CC with making money. Very interesting business model for a video sharing site…
- dotSUB is “a resource and gathering place for subtitling films from one language into many languages using our unique subtitling tools.” So, something like Babelzilla (for coordinated Firefox extension translations), but for videos.
- OpenBusiness.cc is a site for sharing business ideas “built around openness, free services and free access.” Interesting reading.
- iCommons lead Pete Barr-Watson also gave an interesting talk about the One Laptop Per Child project and how it relates to iCommons’ iCurriculum. Pete’s slides (including pictures of the new, no-hand-crank model) can be downloaded from the CCJP site.
Thanks for the OpenBusiness link. Very interesting.
